Mike Wells (Pastor)
Mike is the pastor of Pontesbury Baptist Church and part of the leadership team. He shares responsibility for preaching and teaching in the church. Mike undertook theological training at Oak Hill College in North London between 2010 and 2012, before being called to Pontesbury in March 2014.
Mike is married to Lucy, and they have two sons, Job (5) and Seth (3). Mike has spent most of his life living either in, or near to, Birmingham and considers himself an adopted Brummie, minus the accent!
Bill Kimbery (Deacon)
Bill was our pastor for six years between 2001 and 2007. He now serves as a deacon and regularly preaches and teaches in the church.
Bill was born in Herefordshire and went to university in Cardiff where he was president of the CU. He went on to serve as a WEC missionary along with his wife, Jean, and they spent 13 years in Liberia. Upon his return to the UK Bill served as a Baptist Pastor in Birmingham for 23 years before being called to Pontesbury. Following Jean’s death, Bill married Marcia. He has 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren in their late teens. As a young man, Bill played football, rugby and cricket but now has taken up ballroom and sequence dancing! He likes watching sport and enjoys preaching.
Alun Bowen (Deacon)
Marcia Kimbery (Church Treasurer)
Marcia is the church treasurer and also does admin work for the church. Marcia and her first husband, Brent Rich, spent three years at Birmingham Bible Institute. By the late 1980s, Brent was the leader of Barnabas Christian Fellowship in Shrewsbury. They both went on many mission trips to Romania. 7 years after Brent’s death in 2001, Marcia married Bill. Together they are serving God here at Pontesbury.
From her first marriage, Marcia has 2 children and 3 grandchildren. She enjoys dancing, sewing, knitting and reading.
